About BITS Pilani Dubai Campus

BITS Pilani, Dubai Campus (BPDC) is the international campus of Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India and is located at the Dubai International Academic City. Set up in the year 2000, it is among the pioneer institutions in Dubai, offering high-quality engineering and technology education. It attracts a diverse student population from the UAE, other GCC countries, Asia, Africa and Far East. The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) at BITS Pilani, Dubai Campus serves a unique purpose by empowering technology. It trains the minds of technology students to think creatively, critically, and ethically, fostering curiosity. HSS is dedicated to strengthening the bridge that connects technology with humanity within an institute dedicated to the study and excellence in science and technology. The department has well-qualified faculty members from prestigious institutions who are experts in various domains of the humanities and social sciences disciplines. The HSS Department offers a PhD degree program and a diverse range of first- and higher-degree elective courses.

About IIMAD

The International Institute of Migration and Development (IIMAD), Kerala, is a centre for academic research devoted to all aspects of international migration. IIMAD aims to advance new thinking of migration and be India’s largest interdisciplinary research network in migration and regroups a new nexus of international migration experts. IIMAD believe that migration is part of our life and wish to establish ourselves to create a platform for debate, research, policy analysis and community engagement on global, national and local scales. IIMAD collaborates with government and non-government organizations that deal with Refugees, diasporic migrants, and migrant workers in the region. IIMAD tries to serve as a node in the domain of migration with excellence in cutting-edge academic scholarship that fosters practice-oriented research and policy formulation pertaining to international migration. The IIMAD, with its distinguished scholar community, works to develop a new thematic pathway and facilitate the future scholars to disseminate knowledge through academic publications, data banks and conferencing.

About ICMSDG, 2025

The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, BITS Pilani Dubai campus, in collaboration with the International Institute of Migration and Development (IIMAD), Kerala, invites students, academicians, researchers, activists, and other practitioners to submit their original research for presentation at the BITS Pilani Diamond Jubilee Celebration International Conference 2025. The conference will focus on the theme “People on the Move: International Migration as a Catalyst for Achieving the SDGs". International migration can contribute to positive development outcomes and, ultimately, to realizing the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development specifically in fostering economic growth, reducing inequalities, and promoting social inclusion. The conference aims to create a platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and collaboration among policymakers, academics, international organizations, civil society, and private sector stakeholders. The conference will explore the role of migration in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and how effective policies and partnerships can address migration-related challenges to foster a more sustainable and inclusive future, drawing from the fields of humanities and social sciences and other related disciplines.

Eligibility Criteria

The current undergraduate and graduate (Master’s) students in the batch of 2023, and who have completed their undergraduate and graduate studies in 2021 and 2022 are also eligible to participate.

Guidelines for Submission

GUIDELINES

We invite an abstract of 300 words along with an author biography of 100 words to be submitted through the Google Forms link attached to the flyer by February 15th, 2025. The abstract should include the study objectives, methodology, and main findings. The papers must be submitted in Microsoft Word format only. The submissions will be reviewed by a panel of expert reviewers for acceptance to the conference. The authors of accepted abstracts are expected to submit a full paper by March 30th, 2025. The conference will be conducted strictly in offline mode from 15th to 16th April, 2025.

PUBLICATION: Selected unpublished, high-quality research papers addressing and in line with the conference themes will be shortlisted for publication as book chapters in Springer Proceedings. All papers will undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process.
